2000 - The league is chartered with  ten original  owners
into the basically  unnamed Amateur Football League.
The idea grew  from a river bank on "The Island".
A league created amongst friends  and family.
There were two divisions named simply "A" Division
and "B" Division. There were a lot of bugs and
learning to do in the first year of the  league.
About week 5 in the inaugural year a site dedicated
to just scoring  built by one of the original owners the
Dingoes was created out of conflict of scoring
errors and questions and that bug was fixed and
with that it gave what most Leagues would love
to have 2 Sites with different and same information
but showcased  in 2 distinct different ways.
The B.C. Packers easily ruled the league  the
first year by defeating the Posse in the  first
superbowl  of the Amateur League. That was the
only year we saw a bye in the playoffs.  IT was a
year of learning and new idea's and rules amendments
to pave the road we  currently run on now.

2001 -  The "Amateur League " got a new face lift
for the new season with  different looking websites.
Also in that year we saw two teams leave the league.
The Kimmy Stunners and the Infidels left  in the second
year. Fortunately we were able to replace those owners
and also expanded the league to a 12 team format. Joining
the league that year was The New Enterprise Maulers,
Demented Psychoz, Steroid Freaks,  Brumba Bruisers.

With the expansion we went to a 3 division league and
made the Competition only that much greater. Done away
with  the bye week in playoffs and made it harder to make
it to the post season.

During that year the B.C. Packers once again ruled the
league with the dominance she had during the first
year. Easily defeating the Gamblers in Superbowl II.
With this win it made  the Packers our first back to back
Champions.  With 2 sites dedicated to the league things ran
much smoother and most of the wrinkles were ironed
out from the first learning year.

2002 -  The " Amateur League" gets another face lift and
also a adopted new name " Amateur Fantasy Football
League" . With the new name came new helmets and much
updated cleaner logo's and team pages.    We saw the
Steroid Freaks leave the league and the creation of the
No Names. This also started the first year  we had assigned
draft orders by where we ended up the year before. I
think by far this was the most competitive year to date
because of some  league rules that were instituted.
Minus points, the creation of the Keeper  League.
This year the Maulers beat the 2 time  defending
champs the Packers  in a nail biting Superbowl III.
The divisions now are permanent and rivalries have
already formed both  internal division and external divisions.
This year we also saw a two teams with  a losing record make
the playoffs. ( shows  how competitive the league is ).

2003 - Update:  We see one of the biggie's  leave the league.
The Carnivores was   one of the original owners and it wont
be the  same with them gone. Good luck to you Ken. One of
the most competitive teams in the league history. The Carnivores
finish this run in the AFFL  21-21 record.
The 2003-04 season has now  all the teams ready.  The Carnivores
and  No Names have been replaced by new franchise  The Steelmen
 and Doppelgangers.

2004 - A new year and new site and finaly a new domain.  From
going to free sites with commercials, pop ups and other annoying
things we have a site. 2004 saw the AFFL as www.affleague.com.
11 teams are returning for the new year. One of the big changes
is the schedule. Years earlier we had to play everyone in division
first and last three games. Now it is all mixed up through out the
season to reference the NFL.
The 5th year we see one of the biggie's bow out. The Mother Truckers
decided to retire the rig for a few seasons to get adjusted to a
promotion and move. We will see the Mother Truckers again....
In their replacement we saw a new team to the AFFL. The Knight
Stalkers came and showed thier quickness and knowledge by making
the Superbowl in their innagureal year!

2005 - This will be the first year in league history that every team
returns for another season. And possibly the first year that no new
league rules are instituted. Everything is running on full throtle. Will
Update as season continues..
UPDATE:  2005  year we saw a complete season of returning league members.
Also was 2nd time in league history we had back to back superbowl winner.
This season was the Bottom Feeders

2006 -  A brand new season and marks the beginning of year 7 for most of us in
the AFFL. This season we see the Dopplegangers bow out of the league. They were
a competitive team every year.  With that said, the new team to enter the league are
 the Huntington Moonshiners.

2007- Year number 8 of the league and we see the New Enterprise Maulers leave the league.
With their departure we welcome in The Intimidators to the league.
For the first time in league history we change up the divisions to create new rivalries
and rekindle some lost ones from year 1.  This year we see the Tippletown Hillbillies still riding

high and claim back to back superbowl wins.

2008 - The start of Year 9 of the AFFL we will see a new way in Draft Rules as we draw from a hat instead

of going by how the season ended the year before. That will make for some interesting , strategic picks.

Also we say goodbye to the Intimidators. They were in the League for 1 year. Welcome their replacement

team the Altoona Spartans.
